Welcome to our home theater. The end result of a 5year dream and 7 months of hard labor in 2001. You can retrace our journey by clicking the construction link above. We enjoy movies and entertaining friends. It's much easier to get people to come over to watch a movie when you have a room like this. There is never a need to go to the movie theater again. Think of the money we'll save ;) We use
front projection CRT (NEC
XG135LC) to display movies on a 8ft wide 16:9 screen. DVDs and Blu-ray
discs are scaled by a Sony PS3 converted to 1920x1080i.
Cable HDTV signals a piped directly from a HDTV DVR at 1080i. The sound comes
from a custom built 9 speaker system powered by 1800watts from a B&K 315
Receiver and B&K Reference 3220 amplifier. Follow the equipment
link above to see everything that is used. |

| This is the view from the entrance. The room is 25ft long and 14ft wide. The walls are much darker in real life. The camera flash really brightens things up. The walls are painted with Ralph Lauren River Rock textured paint. Ceiling is a lighter gray Dutch Boy textured paint. All lighting is controlled by a Lutron Grafik Eye lighting controller. | ![]() |

| The front left of the room. The carpet is gray with a black border. The box hanging from the ceiling contains the projector. The box was necessary to cut down on noise. The front columns hold the heating ducts. | ||||
| This is the right side of the room. The stereo and source equipment are mounted in a Middle Atlantic Slim 5 rack. Accessible from the equipment room behind it. There is an IR receiver under the screen which sends the remote control signals to all the equipment. | ||||
| Looking from the screen back. Seating is by Natuzzi. Low voltage lighting in the step. The rear columns hold the surround speakers. Check out my speaker building page for those details. | ||||
| In the back corner is a DVD shelf which opens to provide access under the stairs. | ||||
| This
is the entrance to the Theater Room. The step light is
florescent. Bulb replacement is achieved by removing two screws in
each corner of the lower step.
Outside the theater is the game room. It contains a wet bar, gaming area and bathroom down the hall. |
||||
| Here is a view looking from the theater steps into the game room. We have a full band setup, foosball table and dartboard. (2) Bar tables and stools. |
|
|||
| The wet bar. Black granite top with 2 beer taps, sink, popcorn machine and mini-fridge. |
|

| Looking back to the right wall showing the bar tables. |
|
|||
| The keg cooler is a converted freezer. It is outfitted with a refrigerator thermostat and can hold (2) 8gallon kegs or (1) 16 gallon. | ||||
| The stairs leading down to the basement area are decorated with movie posters. |
|
|||
| The bathroom is also downstairs. I wonder what's behind that half wall? |
|
|||
| Every man should have a urinal in their house! (this is what's on the other side of the half wall) | ||||
